Vijaya and Inflammation: How does it work?

Vijaya is a wonder drug that helps treat multiple ailments, inflammation being on the top of the list. Inflammation is the cause of many problems like back pain, arthritis, headaches, bowel disorders, Alzheimer’s, etc., and Vijaya aids by fighting these.

Research and analysis suggest that Vijaya positively alleviates inflammation and tames the symptom associated with inflammation.

What is Inflammation?

Inflammation is the body’s reaction to fight against things that harm it, like infections, illness, injuries, or toxins, striving to heal itself.

When our body comes in contact with any bacteria or virus, it shoots out the protective white blood cells to tussle with the infection. This action referred to as inflammation, also happens when we get injured, and the body tries to heal the wounded areas.

But there is something beyond this. Sometimes our body starts to attack its own immune system, causing inflammation in the form of pain, swelling, and joint stiffness. These are known as autoimmune diseases; some examples are inflammatory bowel disease (IBS), rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and fibromyalgia.

Patients who suffer from autoimmune disorders have no rescue from the body’s immune system and end up experiencing chronic pain, resulting in poor quality of life. Vijaya helps treat such symptoms so that the patient can get relief from pain and improve holistically.

What Causes Chronic Inflammation?

In chronic inflammation, the body continues to send inflammatory cells even when there is no outside danger. The leading causes are-

  • Weak immune defense of the body to resist infections like bacteria, protozoa, and fungi that resist the body’s immune defenses.
  • Recurring episodes of acute inflammation.
  • Exposure to chemicals and irritants, especially industrial chemicals like silica dust.
  • Autoimmune diseases where the body attacks itself.
  • Intense and acute inflammatory reaction that erupts in response to oxidative stress, cell dysfunction, or articular deposits of monosodium urate, like in gout.

Chronic inflammation leads to health issues and causes diseases such as

  • Arthritis,
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),
  • Autoimmune diseases,
  • Diabetes,
  • Heart disease,
  • Chronic pain, and
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Vijaya can help reduce which type of inflammations?

Extracted from the Cannabis sativa plant, the chemical compounds found in Vijaya can help improve three types of inflammatory ailments

  • Inflammatory Bowel diseases (IBD) like Crohn’s and Ulcerative colitis.
  • Inflammatory skin diseases (ISD) like Atopic Dermatitis and Psoriasis.

Hempstreet’s Bilwadi Churna alleviates IBD. It helps destroy bacteria and viruses causing infection and benefits abdomen colic and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and its receptors

Endocannabinoid System (ECS) in the body is considered one of the “gate-keepers” of the immune system. That means in our body, two main receptors, cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor type 2 (CB2), are assumed to regulate the immune system.

The activation of these cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, are important for several physiological processes that regulate nervous, digestive, reproductive, immune, and metabolic functions. CB1 is present in the brain, and CB2 works in the cells of the immune system.

Vijaya contains two active cannabinoids, CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), that binds with the cannabinoid receptors of our body. This reaction effectively guards the body against inflammation. CB1 and CB2 receptors are also found in the digestive tract, which is why Vijaya is an effective relief for inflammatory bowel disease.

Vijaya contains another ingredient called beta-caryophyllene, which affects the CB2 receptor. As beta-caryophyllene doesn’t affect the CB1 receptors, it doesn’t produce the “high” as the other active substances do.

How can Vijaya help combat inflammation?

Cannabinoids in Vijaya act as potent anti-inflammatory agents through the following processes –

  • Induction of apoptosis (cell-death)

Cannabinoids or the active elements in Vijaya, trigger immunosuppression by inducing apoptosis, or the natural process of cell death. This process reduces the body’s natural producers of chronic inflammation and thus reduces inflammation.

  • Inhibition of cell proliferation

Studies show that the cannabis effectively contributes to antitumor responses, that is, reduction in cell growth and division, and reduction of tumor size.

  • Suppression of cytokine production

Vijaya reduces the immune signaling proteins created by cells called cytokines. With the disruption of cytokines, the reproduction of white blood cells (WBC) and the immune responses are slowed down. It reduces the inflammation responses in and around the cells.

  • Induction of T-regulatory cells (Tregs)

To restore healthy immune responses and tissue homeostasis in many biological processes, the generation of functional regulatory T cells (Tregs) is essential.  Cannabinoids have been researched as potential therapeutic tools for several diseases.
